White River Valley Electric turns PCCC aid into college scholarships

Sometimes we forget that a little effort in our own lives can make a significant difference in someone else’s life. That is something, however, that Molly Matney does not forget.

Matney, a College of the Ozarks senior, received assistance during her college years through the White River Valley Electric Trust Foundation.

Consider her story one of the many reasons why the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper is proud to partner with the foundation again this year. The White River foundation has awarded more than $1.3 million in scholarships in the past decade to students in Christian, Douglas, Ozark, Taney and Stone counties.

“The scholarship is such a blessing. I’m able to focus on my school and future career because I have the scholarship to take care of the stress of paying for my books,” Matney said. “It’s huge for my family to know that I’m taken care of in a way that they can’t provide.”

Such assistance is the purpose of the foundation.

“As part of our commitment to community, we are proud to be able to help students from our service area earn a higher degree,” White River Valley Electric’s CEO Chris Hamon said. “It is thanks to the generosity of our members and the public that we have been able to achieve this goal.”

The PCCC, part of the PGA Tour’s annual Web.com Tour stop in Springfield, has generated almost $12 million for children’s charities in its 25-year history – including a record $1 million-plus last year.

To help students like Matney or to assist with the missions of the 44 charities, you can support the PCCC in a number of ways. For instance:
