The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame continues to honor its commitments to the nearly 50 charities of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Hiland Dairy. A second phase of funds is about to be distributed.
Rob Marsh, the CEO and Executive Director of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, announced Friday that an additional $150,000 has been raised for the 47 charities of the 2024 tournament. That comes six weeks after the charities received more than $300,000.
“We will not stop until we make this right,” Marsh said. “For me, it’s become a personal mission. Our charities help thousands of kids in our community; every dollar truly matters. That’s why I genuinely thank all of the businesses and individuals who have stepped up to help us meet this challenge, and we hope more folks will throw their support behind the effort. We’re doing this the old-fashioned way by rolling up our sleeves.”
Marsh officially started in his new role on Jan. 6 after 27 years with Springfield-based Price Cutter Supermarkets, in which he was their Chief Operating Officer.
The Hall of Fame has long managed the tournament, which has gifted over $20.5 million to charities since its inception in 1990. Marsh stepped forward in January after the Hall of Fame experienced financial difficulties, affecting the Price Cutter tournament.
With the second phase of funds, however, the Hall of Fame is closing the gap on what the charities earned in last summer’s tournament.
“We still have our work cut out for us, but we will keep working hard to support our charities,” Marsh said.
In mid-January, the Hall of Fame posted a message from Marsh on its social media networks about restoring its reputation. In part, he said, “We’ve already initiated meaningful conversations with our wonderful community leaders, partners, and local businesses to rebuild and strengthen our connections. I’m thrilled we’ll continue our cherished partnerships, enhancing our mission.”
The Hall of Fame is finalizing its 2025 calendar, which includes the Price Cutter tournament, which will be held July 11-21 at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield.
