Talk about soldiering through the tough times.
The H.O.P.E. Foundation has long battled through adversity, and perhaps none more than the past year as the Springfield-based non-profit has had to cancel its main fundraiser twice.
Not that it’s stopping Executive Director Kandice White.
“Due to Covid, our main event was cancelled for 2020 and 2021, which has caused us to really change our focus towards growing our other events, which includes the tournament,” White said. “We hope to bring more auction items this year as well as sell more sweepstake tickets.”
She is referring to the PGA Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, which has proudly called the H.O.P.E. Foundation a member charity for years.
And through the tournament, our charities can raise significant dollars through the TLC Properties Charity Sweepstakes program, in which a $25 ticket is not only good for a four-day pass to see the future of the PGA Tour but also this: a 1-in-8,000 chance to win one of two grand prizes – a 2021 Toyota Tundra or $10,000. Additionally, folks can win one of 125 daily prizes during the tournament. Best of all, 100 percent of the ticket goes directly back to the charity.
That could be huge for the H.O.P.E. Foundation, whose mission is this: Each day a child is diagnosed with a severe illness, sustains a debilitating injury, and a family loses the battle with an illness. With these emergencies come unexpected expenses. Our mission is to assist financially in times of crisis, when other organizations and insurance companies don’t.
Which has led to the PCCC helping in numerous ways: “The PCCC has been a tremendous help to HOPE over the years by allowing us to give additional funds to local families for everyday bills such as rent/mortgage payments, utilities and gas assistance,” White said. “Every dollar that is donated is just one more way for all of us to provide these families with HOPE during a difficult time.” And you can bet that H.O.P.E truly appreciates your support. “The PCCC means everything to HOPE,” White said. “We are able to help roughly 10 more families every year due to the donations from the tournament. That is 10 more families that can focus on what is really important, bringing their child home well.”
