There is nothing better than making a positive impact on a child or teenager.
Which is why the folks at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks have more energy than ever. Just listen to what they’ve game-planned for the road ahead, and it’s easy to understand why the organization fits in well with the PGA Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
“As an agency, we look forward to implementing a new site-based program within the high schools along with bringing back Lunch Buddies in our Elementary Schools,” said Susan Mellentine, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks. “We also introduced Focus Area Mentoring which allows our matches to choose a focus area that would best suit their interest, whether it be sharing a meal together, enjoying the many activities in the community, working on academic areas together, or preparing for life after high school.
“By offering this program,” Mellentine said, “it increased the age range that BBBS of the Ozarks serves to include ages 5-18.”
The mission statement for Big Brothers Big Sisters is straightforward: to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.
That’s why you’ll see the organization truly involved in the PCCC again this year, through the Golf Ball & Charity Auction on July 20 (if you’re a business, please donate an item, as 100 percent of the funds raised go directly to the charity), as well as volunteer check-in and the putting green.
The PCCC has helped Big Brothers Big Sisters in numerous ways: “We are so appreciative of the long-lasting relationship we have had with the PCCC. Not only does it provide funding for our agency, it has also created awareness about what we do and why it is so important. It has allowed us to build a stronger relationship with our community, other agencies and sponsors. We have become a “village” of support with each other as our common driving force is helping the youth realize their full potential. Together Kids Win!”
Mellentine added this:
“The investment into PCCC allows us to continue to serve the youth of the Ozarks in providing one-to-one mentorships that not only help our children believe more in life is possible, but it also increases their success in school and helps them make better choices. In turn, this increases the quality of our future workforce and helps build a stronger community.”
