When the guys from Lockton Insurance arrived for the Silver Dollar City Pro-Am, their designated pro was missing but for good reason. He “Monday qualified” for this week’s PGA Web.com Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
His fill-in? Well, Dillon Rust arrived. Did he ever.
Rust, an alternate pro for the event, sprang into action without any practice time and then consistently hit 350-yard tee shots for Lockton Insurance, which capitalized by firing a 56 to win the SDC Pro-Am on Tuesday at Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course.
Lockton featured Bob Croy, Glenn Spiking, Michael Patton and Brett Dubay. They were initially assigned with pro Jace Long, but Long fired a 5-under par 66 on Monday at Rivercut Golf Course, qualifying for the PCCC.
Hiland Dairy earned second place with a 57 and featured Rob Ballowe, Nate Angus, Terry Mitchell, Dave Carlton and pro Brad Golden.
Earning third place was an SRC-sponsored team of Harley Owens, Jim Grooms, Tim Clubb and pro Willy Hogan as the group carded a 58.
The event was a fundraiser for the PGA Web.com Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, which is Thursday through Sunday at Highland Springs Country Club.
