White River Valley Electric wins Price Cutter Pro-Am

A team sponsored by White River Valley Electric Cooperative staked claim to the Price Cutter Pro-Am, firing a 43 in the afternoon round Wednesday at Highland Springs Country Club.

The event is part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, a PGA Web.com Tour tournament set to begin today (Thursday, Aug. 11) at Highland Springs. Every pro-am – and, for that matter, a pro-am team – matters to the PCCC, which is raising money for 43 Ozarks children’s charities.

WRVE featured pro Kevin Tway along with Don Phillips, John Cyrus, Lyle Rowland and Steve Wendler. Cyrus is the 2014 U.S. Senior Long Drive champion who also plays in many Missouri Sports Hall of Fame celebrity golf classics.

“Great tournament. Beautiful golf course. The course was in excellent condition,” Cyrus said. “We had a really great team. Kevin Tway was great to play with. He hits the ball super-straight, super-strong, really accurate with the irons.”

Placing second was a Schilling & Sellmeyer-sponsored team featuring Springfield Cardinals general manager Matt Gifford, Matt Sellmeyer, Kirk Elmquist, Matt Aug and pro Kyle Thompson. The group fired a 44.

Placing third – with a still-impressive 45 — was a Hiland Dairy-sponsored team featuring Rob Ballowe, Gary Aggus, Rick Beaman, Terry Mitchell and pro Trey Mullinax.

The Web.com Tour golfers get under way at 7:10 a.m. Thursday. Tickets remain available, including a $25 TLC Properties Charity Sweepstakes that enters you to win a 2016 Ford F-150 or $10,000.

All former and current military, law enforcement and first responders – and their families – are admitted free and will receive access to the Jackson Brothers of the South Ozarks Club VIP tent and covered seating on the 18th green. Tickets are at the admissions tent near the grassy parking lot across from the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. For more information, visit the website at pricecuttercc.org, or call 417-887-3400.
