PCCC: Spots available in Junior Pro-Am on Aug. 6


All high school and middle school golfers now can play one additional competitive event before the school year.

The Betty and Bobby Allison’s Junior Pro-Am is now set for Thursday, Aug. 6 at Rivercut Golf Course. It’s one of three events dedicated to kids and teens and part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

The Junior Pro-Am is $75 a player, or $300 for a four-person team. This is a scramble format, plus the score of a professional golfer. Registration fee includes participation in the event, logo cap, sleeve of golf balls and a picture with a professional golfer. The Junior Pro-Am’s divisions are for boys and girls in the sixth, seventh and eighth grades, plus a separate division for high school golfers. Players younger than 16 will not be allowed to drive a cart and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

In addition to this event, the PCCC also is hosting a pair of free events.

The first is the free Kids Fun Day and Junior Golf Clinic presented by Jared Enterprises on Friday, July 17 at Highland Springs Country Club. The fun day begins at 10 a.m. with carnival games, inflatables, crafts, prizes for all, refreshments and face painting. The Junior Golf Clinic features area experts demonstrating the golf swing. Each child will be given a Cut Down club to use and receive three, free golf balls.

Families also should mark Wednesday, July 29 on their calendar for the Price Cutter Charities Junior Golf Outing at Oscar Blom Golf Course, a Par 3, nine-hole course at 1825 E. Norton Road in Springfield. This is a free event beginning at 10 a.m.
