Junior Pro-Am winners

A team featuring former Central High School standout Kevin Kring as a pro and senior-to-be Alex Lock, who was part of Glendale High School’s recent state championship, took home top honors Friday in the Betty & Bobby Allison’s Junior Pro-Am.

The event, part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, was held at Rivercut Golf Course. King led a group that included Meek, Connor Obert, Chase Gaffner and Alex Locke in firing a 124 to win Division I.

“It’s just fun to hang out with my friends. It’s a lot less competitive than everything else,” said Locke, who enjoyed playing a poker game with Kring, who used the game to keep the group focused on a hot day.

Gaffner took a lot of mental notes too from Kring, who played in the PCCC last year on an exemption.

“Super good player. You can learn a lot from him,” Gaffner said. “He’s a super-good iron player. I’ll take that into next season.”

In Division I, the second-best score of 127 belonged to the team of Jack Erhardt, Hayden Brogden, Cooper Hess and Wyatt Griffin, with Brandon Cauldwell as the pro.

“It was a good experience,” said Blake, an Ozark High School sophomore who took up golf only last season. “(Baker) said to stay consistent and really commit to each shot. Even if you hit it bad, you’ve got to come back. I got a lot out of it.”

Winning Division II was the team of of Peyton Blake, Lucas Ogden, Greg Mitchals, Preston Richardson and pro Mark Baker. The team fired a 127.

Placing second in Division II was the team of Christian Cooper, Ty Cooper and Hadley Louderbaugh, with Bradley Long as the pro. They fired a 134.

The Betty & Bobby Allison’s Junior Pro-Am kicked off the start of an six-day stretch in which the PCCC will play host to daily pro-ams leading into the PGA Tour event set to begin Wednesday at Highland Springs Country Club.
