A cool grand is one thing. But how does winning $50,000 strike you? Indeed, local golfers, weekend hacks and even non-golfers could pocket some serious coin in an event tied to the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

The trick? Land a hole in one on a 175-yard attempt in the finals of the Missouri Golf Association’s Closest to the Pin & Hole in One Contest. It’s scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15 at Highland Springs Country Club after the pros complete play, or roughly 4 p.m.

The PCCC announced the $50,000 prize on Friday, just weeks before the PGA’s Web.com Tour stops in Springfield on Aug. 13-16. Additionally, fans also have a chance to walk away with a 2015 Ford Mustang or $10,000 simply by purchasing a $25 TLC Properties Charity Sweepstakes ticket – which is good for a four-day pass, with the full $25 ticket money going to the charity of your choice.

To participate in the MGA’s Closest to the Pin & Hole in One contest, you can purchase an unlimited number of chances — one shot is $5, and three shots for $10. The winners in age and gender divisions will receive trophies and will advance to the finals, where they’ll have an opportunity to sink a hole in one. If there’s a hole-in-one winner, the winner earns $50,000. To win the money, you must be at least 18 years of age.

The MGA Closest to the Pin Contest is an annual tradition in the PCCC, a PGA Web.com Tour stop that has generated $12 million for local children’s charities in the past 25 years. A record $1 million-plus was awarded a year ago. To reserve your spot, call the PCCC at 887-3400.

Additionally, the tournament continues to accept business sponsorships for a variety of events or on the course, such as banners and vendor tents. A number of spots remain, too, for pro-ams, including the Betty & Bobby Allison’s Junior Pro-Am on Thursday, Aug. 6 at Rivercut Golf Course.
