The Special Olympics Missouri-SW Area provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the community. Special Olympics Missouri-Southwest Area plans to use money donated through the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper to expand their program in areas where individuals with disabilities do not have the opportunity to participate. In 2007, the organization provided training and competition to over 1700 athletes in southwest Missouri.
