The story of the T-shirts, wood tokens & Price Cutter Supermarkets

If you’ve shopped at any of the Price Cutter Supermarkets in the Greater Springfield area, you’ve probably spotted workers sporting the red T-shirts of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

What a great promotion it has been this summer for our fundraiser of a tournament, which has generated almost $12 million for children’s charities in the past 25 years — including a record $1 million-plus last year alone.

But to add more to the PCCC this year, leaders of the supermarkets went further.

The T-shirts have been in stores all summer. Even better, shoppers can contribute to the cause of the PCCC by dropping wood tokens in a box marked with their favorite charity. Price Cutter Supermarkets will match the amount.

“Our people are really behind it,” said Brad Beattie, Director of Price Cutter Supermarkets. “When we were thinking of ideas, we asked, ‘How do we create more awareness?”

It’s been a success thanks to employees.

“They realize it’s not just about golf,” Beattie said.
