Among PCCC charities that have felt the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak is the HOPE FOUNDATION.
It focuses on families who may have a pediatric emergency and suddenly cannot meet monthly bills. It assists with rent/mortgage, utilities, car repairs, funerals and gasoline.
Just recently it helped a family of a premature baby, said HOPE Foundation Executive Director Kandice White. The baby was born nine weeks early, and the baby’s arrival came after the dad had lost his job and hasn’t had much luck finding employment. Plus, the doctor wouldn’t clear the mother to return to work amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
HOPE Foundation paid the family’s rent and utilities for March and April. However, funds are becoming tight, considering the organization had to postpone its largest fundraiser, an event tied to the since-postponed Kentucky Derby.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship Tournament,” White said. “The funds received from this event make it possible for HOPE to continue to assist local families financially when they have a child experiencing a pediatric emergency.”
