Betty Allison's Pro-Am

OZARK – Some golfers might consider it a good day if they sink, say, seven or eight birdies. But how does 14 sound?

For the foursome of Megan Riley, Chris Pietz, Stephanie Henderson and Christi Blasi, it wasn’t sweet 16 but sweet 14 in winning the Betty Allison’s Women’s Pro-Am on a sun-splashed Tuesday at Millwood Golf and Racquet Club.

The four, playing with pro Mark Baker, fired a winning 57 in the scramble format and took top honors by two strokes. Baker himself fired a 3-under-par 68 in an event that’s part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

Second place belonged to Abby Schumacher, Inatavia O’Neill, Rose Foster and Dawna Hartman. The group, playing with pro J.R. Reyes, fired a 59. Reyes carded a 75.

The KOLR 10 TV team, playing with pro Chris Naegel, of Abba Mace, Sheila Ortega, Kim Lorenzen and Kelly Danielson placed third with a score of 61.

The Betty Allison’s Women’s Pro-Am played two days before the PCCC, the PGA Tour’s annual Web.com Tour, tees off for a four-day weekend at Highland Springs Country Club.

The tournament is in its 26th year and has generated almost $12 million for local children’s charities, including a record $1 million-plus last year alone.

For tickets, call 417-837-3400, or stop by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame at 3861 E. Stan Musial Drive, which is about a mile east of the 60-65 interchange.
