Davey Styers now has bragging rights in the Missouri Golf Association’s Closest the Pin & Hole in One Contest.

Styers, 62, won the event Saturday at Highland Springs Country Club, firing a tee shot to within 7 feet, 5 inches of the pin on a 172-yard hole on the club’s driving range.

His distance beat that of 20-year-old Haden Stevens (9 feet) while Ray Burton placed third with a tee shot that landed within 9 feet, 7 inches of the hole.

A $50,000 prize was up for grabs in the contest as division winners advanced to the finals, where a hole in one would have won the big money. However, no one landed a hole in one.

The event was part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented Dr Pepper, the PGA Tour’s annual Web.com Tour stop and the chief annual fundraiser for children’s charities. The PCCC has raised almost $12 million in its 25-year history, and is expected to exceed that amount this year.

The tournament wraps up today, with an expected finish of 6 p.m. The TLC Properties Charity Sweepstakes drawings for a 2015 Ford Mustang and $10,000 will take place immediately after the final round.
