Charity spotlight: Mercy Kids

Mercy Kids is in its 15th years as a charity of the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

From time to time, you will hear people say that they’re walking with an extra bounce in their step. At Mercy Kids, a Springfield hospital dedicated to improving children’s lives, that’s the way it is every day.

And who cannot appreciate that?

It’s more than a hospital treating children; more than doctors for children; more than nurses treating a sick child. Mercy Kids, a home away from home, is a special way of caring for children’s health and well-being, from conception to graduation.

Even better, the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper – through your donations — has helped to play a positive role for Mercy Kids.

And you can again.

Businesses and golf fans who support the PCCC should know their dollars can be extremely effective – and positive. Mercy Kids is back on board for a 16th year with the PCCC, which has gifted almost $13 million for local charities in the past 26 years.

“The Price Cutter Charity Championship Golf Tournament has been overwhelmingly successful and is an exciting event that generates additional funding for Mercy Children’s Hospital and Mercy Kids,” said Ted Stutzman, Chief Operating Officer Pediatric Specialty Services. “The event creates an avenue to fund items and programs that directly have a positive impact for the children of our community.”

Tri-Lakes KLIFE is a youth ministry in Branson.

The chapter director of Tri-Lakes KLIFE, a non-profit youth ministry based in Branson, puts it this way about the organization’s mission:

“Our mission is to walk alongside these students and show them the love of Jesus Christ through consistent and authentic friendships,” Robert Bruce said. “We have realized that the best way to build trust with the students is by being consistent and available. With social media and text messaging so prevalent in today’s world, face-to-face contact and hand-written notes go a long way in building trust and authenticity. We want these students to know that we care and, by doing so, it will open up an avenue for us to share the Gospel with them.”

Tri-Lakes KLIFE has been a positive influence for more than 40 years and, if you’ve ever wanted to help its cause, now comes a chance to do just that.

The Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper is proud to call Tri-Lakes KLIFE one of its charities. The tournament, part of the PGA’s Web.com Tour stop, has gifted almost $13 million for children’s charities in the past 26 years.

About Tri-Lakes KLIFE

TriLakes-KLIFEbowling

Tri-Lakes KLIFE is a non-profit youth ministry dedicated to impacting the lives of local youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The organization builds genuine friendships in order to earn the right to proclaim the truth of Scripture, and loving students regardless of their response.

In essence, Tri-Lakes KLIFE spends its time going to students, rather than expecting and waiting for students to visit. On any given day, a staff member or volunteer leader hangs out with students in the school lunch room, at sporting events, pep rallies, plays and other school functions.

More so, the organization spends time with students in other creative ways, such as assistant coaching, outdoor activities, sharing a meal and so forth.

Weekly club meetings for middle school groups and high school groups include fun games before turning attention to the Bible.

For Tri-Lakes KLIFE, it's all about reaching out to teens, rather than waiting on them to visit.

Monthly events are focused on drawing students in who would never be found at church. The groups share the gospel and encourage them to get involved in clubs or a small group, and hopefully church as well.

The guiding verse for Tri-Lakes KLIFE is 1 Thessalonians 2:8, which reads, “We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become clear to us.”
