Charity spotlight: Tri-Lakes KLIFE

For Tri-Lakes KLIFE, it's all about reaching out to teens, rather than waiting on them to visit.
For Tri-Lakes KLIFE, it’s all about reaching out to teens, rather than waiting on them to visit.

The chapter director of Tri-Lakes KLIFE, a non-profit youth ministry based in Branson, puts it this way about the organization’s mission:

“Our mission is to walk alongside these students and show them the love of Jesus Christ through consistent and authentic friendships,” Robert Bruce said. “We have realized that the best way to build trust with the students is by being consistent and available. With social media and text messaging so prevalent in today’s world, face-to-face contact and hand-written notes go a long way in building trust and authenticity. We want these students to know that we care and, by doing so, it will open up an avenue for us to share the Gospel with them.”

It's easy to have fun at Tri-Lakes KLIFE.

Tri-Lakes KLIFE has been a positive influence for more than 40 years and, if you’ve ever wanted to help its cause, now comes a chance to do just that.

The Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper is proud to call Tri-Lakes KLIFE one of its charities. The tournament, part of the PGA’s Web.com Tour stop, has gifted almost $14 million for children’s charities in the past 27 years.

About Tri-Lakes KLIFE

KLIFE TriLakes-logo

Tri-Lakes KLIFE is a non-profit youth ministry dedicated to impacting the lives of local youth with the gospel of Jesus Christ. The organization builds genuine friendships in order to earn the right to proclaim the truth of Scripture, and loving students regardless of their response.

In essence, KLIFE Tri-Lakes spends its time going to students, rather than expecting and waiting for students to visit. On any given day, a staff member or volunteer leader hangs out with students in the school lunch room, at sporting events, pep rallies, plays and other school functions.

More so, the organization spends time with students in other creative ways, such as assistant coaching, outdoor activities, sharing a meal and so forth.

Weekly club meetings for middle school groups and high school groups include fun games before turning attention to the Bible.

Monthly events are focused on drawing students in who would never be found at church. The groups share the gospel and encourage them to get involved in clubs or a small group, and hopefully church as well.

The guiding verse for Tri-Lakes KLIFE is 1 Thessalonians 2:8, which reads, “We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become clear to us.”

PCCC seeking volunteers

The PGA Web.com Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper on Tuesday issued a call for volunteers, noting that its greatest need at this time is for walking scorers and marshals.

The tournament is Aug. 10-13 at Highland Springs Country Club in Springfield. To become a volunteer, visit the tournament website at pricecuttercc.org, or call the tournament office at 417-887-3400.

Volunteers are asked to pay $45, which includes a lot of perks: a polo shirt, cap or visor, backpack, water bottle, tickets to the tournament, general admission tickets to the Springfield Cardinals and access to parties, including the Volunteer Party in the Jackson Brothers of the Ozarks tent after the championship round. Volunteers who work two shifts are eligible for either a round of golf at Rivercut Golf Course or a buy one/get one entree certificate to Gilardi’s.

Walking scorers have the additional perk of walking the course with three professional golfers inside the ropes while keeping score.

“Volunteers are an integral part of the success of the tournament,” said Sharyn Wagoner, PCCC Tournament Chair. “There are over 1,000 volunteers each year doing everything from parking cars, driving shuttles, feeding volunteers, providing childcare for golfers’ families, to keeping score and marshaling the course. Without the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, we would not be able to accomplish all that we do.”
