PCCC: Join us to help 50-plus children’s charities

More than 50 Ozarks charities will benefit from this summer’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, one of 26 stops on the Korn Ferry Tour. And businesses and individuals who want to throw their support behind the tournament have a number of ways to do so.

Tournament Executive Director Byron Shive revved up that message Monday during the tournament’s annual Media Day presented by the H.O.P.E. Foundation at Highland Springs Country Club. This year’s theme is “Future Greats, Great Futures,” with the tournament set to celebrate its 34th year.

“We hope businesses and individuals will rally around our charities, as they do incredible work in our community,” Shive said. “We don’t realize the time and effort they spend to help so many developmentally disabled kids or low-income families have a better life. That’s why sponsorships large and small could make a huge difference to help the charities meet their important missions.”

Efforts to secure sponsorships already are under way, with the tournament’s numerous events set for July 10-23 in the Springfield area. The pros play July 20-23 at Highland Springs Country Club, with a purse of $1 million.

The tournament has gifted more than $19.4 million since its inception in 1990, and a year ago it distributed a record $1.095 million. Call 417-887-3400 to be a part of this year’s tournament. This year marks the 24th with Price Cutter Supermarkets as a presenting or title sponsor. It’s Year 20 for Dr Pepper. The tournament has gifted 93.3 percent of its total – or $18,184,170 – since Price Cutter joined the tournament.

“I have always said this is more than a golf tournament,” said Rob Marsh, Chief Operating Officer for Pyramid Foods, Inc., the parent company of Price Cutter Supermarkets. “Shop local is our motto, and we try to practice what we preach.”

Kandice White of H.O.P.E. Foundation, which helps cover bills for families whose children are hospitalized: “HOPE Foundation has been a part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship tournament for many years now. They have given us so many amazing opportunities to raise additional funds to continue our mission. With those additional funds, we are able to help so many more families in our community, and we could never thank them enough!”

Jackie Barger of Children’s Smile Center: “As a result of the funding from PCCC, we are able to ensure that we have the facilities and equipment necessary to get the job done for kids. It’s not right that a child would go to bed at night with a toothache, all the while mom and dad are frantic with worry because they can’t find a clinic that will accept Medicaid. That’s when Children’s Smile Center steps in the gap to be there for kids.”

Jody Dow of Springfield Dream Center: “The PCCC has been a pleasure to partner with over the years. PCCC allows us to utilize volunteers in a fun way, raffle tickets offer donors an affordable, fun way to partner together, and the tournament itself is such a week of celebration. The Springfield Dream Center loves that tournament highlights so many amazing organizations our community has, and really focuses on the work we all can do together.”

Susan Mellantine of Big Brothers Big Sisters: “Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks is celebrating our 40th anniversary this year and we are thankful for PCCC’s long-time support of our agency. The funding helps us to continue to provide our quality mentorship programs for the youth in the Ozarks. The power of mentorship is proven in the success of our Littles as they make better choices, improve grades, believe more is possible in life, and have improved self-esteem.”
