The longtime Executive Director of the area’s largest sports-based fundraiser is challenging local businesses and individuals to see what they can do for Ozarks children’s charities, emphasizing that many are now relying heavily on the PGA Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
Jerald Andrews, the PCCC’s Executive Director, issued the call during Media Day presented by the H.O.P.E Foundation, held Monday at Highland Springs Country Club. His comments come weeks before the bulk of the tournament’s events begin the week of July 13, with the pros playing July 23-26 at Highland Springs Country Club. Among the pros this year is Tony Romo, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback who is playing on a sponsor’s exemption.
This year’s tournament is benefitting nearly 50 children’s charities based here in the Ozarks. At this time, the tournament continues seeking sponsorships for pro-am teams, on-course advertising and other PCCC-related events. “The pandemic forced many of our charities either to cancel their other fundraisers or push them back to later in the year. Many are telling us that the Price Cutter tournament is their one shot to stay on track,” Andrews said. “Our charities help developmentally disabled kids, children from low-income families and many others in need. That’s why we hope folks in the business community and individuals, if they are in a position to, will consider throwing their support to the tournament.”
This year marks the 31st PCCC, with the tournament having gifted more than $16.5 million to local children’s charities since 1990. Price Cutter Supermarkets is back on board for a 22nd year, and in its time as a presenting or title sponsor, the tournament has gifted 92 percent of that total – or $15,247,785. Dr Pepper is on board for an 18th year.
The Korn Ferry Tour resumed its schedule the weekend of June 11 in Florida, and the PCCC is planning for fans in attendance. Safety protocols have been in the works for weeks.
