Charity Spotlight: Springfield Dream Center

When Jody Dow was 11, she dreamed of opening a Dream Center, with hopes of making a positive difference for Springfield families through educational classes, food pantry and more.

That’s now a reality with the Springfield Dream Center, which opened in 2017 at a building graciously donated by Hamlin Baptist Church.

The Dream Center exists as a hub of practical help and life-giving hope to families in Springfield. Located within Zone 1 in the north part of the city, the Dream Center gives donors and supporters the opportunity to make a direct impact by providing resources and long-term skills in order to help families gain traction towards spiritual, mental and physical stability.

With North Point Church serving as both a founding organization as well as current financial supporter, the Dream Center offers a variety of programs from children to adults such as DC Academy, adult educational classes, a food pantry, community dinner and much more.

“We are supported by businesses, individuals, churches, fundraisers, and grant opportunities,” Dow said. “It takes each income stream coming together to make our annual budget work. We are grateful for the part PCCC plays in making sure we can continue to provide help for today and hope for tomorrow.”

In 2019, the Dream Center joined the PGA Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, a major fundraiser for Ozarks children’s charities.

Even better, the Dream Center has sold the winning tickets to of the Toyota Tundra – one of the grand prizes in the 2019 and 2020 TLC Properties Charity Sweepstakes. Those go for $25 each, and returns again this year.

“We are excited to be back on the 16th hole as marshals!,” Dow said. “2021 for the Dream Center will include some new summer programming, expanding our after-school program, and growing our stability classes.

“The PCCC has not only provided us with necessary funding but has also given us exposure that we would not get without the tournament,” Dow said.
