Charity Spotlight: Project HOPE

For Springfield’s Project HOPE, children living in challenging communities is always the central focus. And it comes from the heart.

In fact, it has a mission “to give HOPE locally and around the world  by presenting the gospel of Jesus through relational ministry.”

That’s why Project HOPE is among the nearly 50 Ozarks children’s charities of the PGA Korn Ferry Tour’s Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

Last year, Project HOPE provided more than 52,000 meals to children who live in a city dump in Nicaragua.

“We provide a safe place where these kids can come to be nourished and loved,” a Project HOPE member said. “Most often, this is the only meal they will get each day. Project HOPE, through sponsorships, also provides school uniforms necessary for them to be able to attend school.”

Additionally, the organization cares for more than 100 young children each day at Taellor’s House, where single mothers can bring their children while they go to attend training classes, where they learn new skills and work to earn a living for their family.

Beyond all that, Project HOPE’s mission teams work in Nicaraguan villages to build homes for families that have no real home or are living in cardboard and metal shacks. It also builds and sponsors preschools and hosts large soccer tournaments as a means of sharing the gospel.

Haiti also is a focus for Project HOPE, which provided more than 363,100 manna packs that were served to 1,514 children a day in 13 local schools.

“The funding Project HOPE receives through the Price Cutter Charity Championship is very instrumental in helping to keep many ministries of Project HOPE going,” the member said. “The amount of money that has been raised for our charity, as well as so many other deserving local charities, through this tournament, is so encouraging and shows the true heart of this organization and the local community.”
