The future of the PGA Tour did in fact play in the recent Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.

When the Web.com Tour regular season ended Sunday and determined its first 25 PGA Tour cards for next season, the numbers were impressive: 18 of the 25 players competed in the PCCC, held Aug. 11-14 at Highland Springs Country Club.

The names included PCCC champion Mackenzie Hughes as well as: Richy Weresnki, J.J. Spaun, Ryan Brehm, Ollie Schniederjans, Trey Mullinax, J.T. Poston, Jonathan Randolph, Brian Campbell, Mark Anderson, Grayson Murray, Brandon Hagy, Julian Etulain, Nicholas Lindheim, Sebastian Munoz, Max Homa, Rick Lamb and Joel Dahmen.

“We are proud that Mackenzie Hughes, our champion, made The 25,” Tournament Executive Director Jerald Andrews said. “He represented himself well here. He won with class and showed appreciation by interacting with the fans.”

This year marked the fourth season in which the Web.com Tour determined all 50 PGA Tour cards for next season. The top 25 money winners at the end of the regular season are assured of PGA Tour cards. The remaining 25 are decided in the Web.com Tour Finals, a series of four events that begin Sept. 5.

Had Hughes not won the Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper, he likely would have not earned one of the 25 spots, given Hughes had earned slightly less than $46,000 before playing in Springfield.

The PCCC would have had a 18th player on this list, but Wesley Bryan – the top money-winner on the Web.com Tour this year – won the Digital Alley Open in suburban Kansas City a week before the PCCC. That gave him three wins this year, assuring his PGA Tour card.

Lindheim finished 50th at the PCCC (out of 156 golfers) and finished with $158,654 in season earnings. That figure was roughly $9,000 more than Xander Schauffele, who finished 26th in the regular-season money standings and was only $975 shy of Dahman, who finished 25th in the money.
